چکیده
drying of agricultural products is a sophisticated process with high energy consumption. energy needed for sustainable development, is one of the biggest challenges facing humanity. the performance of a heat recovery assisted solar dryer was evaluated in this study. drying time, collector efficiency, energy consumption, solar fraction and energy recovery fraction were investigated at different drying air temperatures (45, 55 and 65 oc) and three levels of air flow rate (0.04, 0.06 and 0.08 kg/s). the results showed that collector efficiency decreased at higher drying temperatures and lower air flow rates. increasing the air temperature from 45 to 65 oc reduced energy consumption by 25%. meanwhile, the air temperature rise decreased solar fraction by 24% while improved energy recovery fraction by 20%.

Experimental Investigation of a Heat Pump Assisted Fluidized Bed Dryer
The drying or dehydration is the controlled heating of food products to evaporate quantified amount of moisture that is originally present in it. Drying of food products is essential to enhance the shelf life of the product without quality losses over an extended period of time. It is an energy intensive process. The fluidized bed dryer with heat pump is one of the efficient method to reduce th...

in the present study, saffron was dried using a heat pump-assisted hybrid photovoltaic-thermal solar dryer. the effect of different drying air temperatures at three levels (40, 50, and 60oc) and two different modes of the dryer (with and without heat pump system) were investigated on drying behaviour of saffron. after collecting the pertinent data, eleven drying models were used to describe dry...
متن کاملExperimental and Theoretical Investigation of Drying of Green Peas in a Fluidized Bed Dryer of Inert Particles Assisted by Infrared Heat Source
Drying of green peas in a Fluidized Bed Dryer (FBD) with inert particle, heated by combined sources of hot air and InfraRed (IR) radiation, has been experimentally and theoretically studied. For this purpose, an experimental set up was constructed. This setup was composed of a cylindrical bed dryer containing some inert particles which are fluidized by hot air. Some infrar...
متن کاملDesign and optimization of solar-assisted conveyer-belt dryer for biomass
Biomass, as a renewable source of energy, can be used in many industries to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels. However, due to the significantly high and varied moisture content of biomass, its use has several drawbacks, such as low total efficiency and process instability. Drying biomass before combustion or gasification can eliminate these drawbacks. Besides these benefits, there ar...
متن کاملA Quasi-stationary Approach to Drying Kinetics of Cylindrical, Food Particulates in a Heat Pump Assisted Fluid Bed Dryer
Experiments were undertaken to study drying kinetics of moist cylindrical shaped food particulates during fluidised bed drying. Cylindrical particles were prepared from Green beans with three different length:diameter ratios, 3:1, 2:1 and 1:1. A batch fluidised bed dryer connected to a heat pump system was used for the experimentation. A Heat pump and fluid bed combination was used to increase ...
متن کاملA Quasi-stationary Approach to Drying Kinetics of Different Shaped Food Particulates in a Heat Pump Assisted Fluid Bed Dryer
Experiments were undertaken to study drying kinetics of different shaped moist food particulates during heat pump assisted fluidised bed drying. Three particular geometrical shapes of parallelepiped, cylindrical and spheres were selected from potatoes (aspect ratio = 1:1, 2:1, 3:1), cut beans (length: diameter = 1:1, 2:1, 3:1) and peas respectively. A batch fluidised bed dryer connected to a he...
